How to Measure Your Bra Size
Finding the right bra size makes all the difference in comfort and support - especially for plus size bodies. All you need is a soft measuring tape and two minutes. Follow these five simple steps to find your perfect fit.
What You'll Need
Soft Measuring Tape
A flexible fabric or vinyl tape measure (not a metal one)
Mirror (Optional)
Helps you check that the tape is level around your body
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Wear a Non-Padded Bra
Put on a well-fitting, non-padded bra - or go braless. A padded or push-up bra can add inches to your measurement and give you an inaccurate size. Stand up straight with your arms relaxed at your sides.
Step 2: Measure Your Band Size
Wrap the measuring tape snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Keep the tape level all the way around - use a mirror to double-check. The tape should be snug but not tight; you should be able to fit one finger underneath. Round to the nearest whole number. If the number is odd, round up to the next even number. This is your band size.
Step 3: Measure Your Bust Size
Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust - usually at nipple level. Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor. Don't pull the tape too tight; it should rest gently against your body without compressing the tissue. Round to the nearest whole number.
Step 4: Calculate Your Cup Size
Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. The difference in inches determines your cup size:
Difference (inches) Cup Size 1 inch A 2 inches B 3 inches C 4 inches D 5 inches DD 6 inches E 7 inches F Step 5: Find Your Bra Size
Combine your band size and cup letter to get your bra size. For example, if your band measurement is 42 inches and your bust measurement is 46 inches, the difference is 4 inches - making you a 42D.
Plus Size Bra Fitting Tips
The band provides 80% of support
Many plus size women wear a band that is too loose and compensate with tight straps. If your band rides up in the back, try a smaller band size (and go up one cup letter to maintain volume).
Try your bra on the loosest hook
A new bra should fit on the loosest hook. As the elastic stretches over time, you can tighten it. If a new bra already needs the tightest hook, the band is too large.
Lean forward when putting on your bra
Lean forward at the waist and scoop your breast tissue into the cups. This ensures all tissue is properly contained, giving you the most accurate fit and the best silhouette.
Wide straps matter for larger busts
All of our plus size bras feature wide, cushioned straps that distribute weight evenly across your shoulders - reducing strain, preventing digging, and keeping everything comfortable all day.
